New Military History Channel launched

News reached us here today in HT Towers of a new channel launching July 28th - the History Channel's Military History Channel.

What this teaches us:
  • Military History is one of the most popular, active and lucrative corners of the discipline, and this is particularly the case online.
  • the History Channel pays scant attention to criticism of its 'A-Hitler-Show-Every-Other-Hour' policy.
  • the History Channel has been following developments at HT's newly funked-up Military History section closely.

New Facebook Group

I've just created a Facebook group called History Today.
Tagline: For anyone pursuing a deeper understanding of world events
Current population: 1

The aim is to cause a fuss! We can have some heated debates on divisive topics, or spread the word about interesting articles and great resources such as in our publication.

Remember, you'll have to login or sign up to Facebook to enjoy the group.

Welcome to the new History In The News blog!

Welcome to History In The News, the new blog from the people behind History Today Magazine. My name is Derry and every day myself and the team here in our London office will be writing about the deeper issues that lie behind some of the stories making front pages around the world.

We'll also be updating readers on developments at our mothership website where we'll be ringing the changes in months to come.

This blog is meant for everyone - students, academics, journalists, amateur history enthusiasts, subscribers and newcomers to History Today - I welcome your comments and contributions on the posts that follow.
